Marco Angioloni
Tenor Marco Angioloni, trained mostly in France, specializes in neglected Baroque works but has a large and varied repertory. He has recorded for Da Vinci Classics, Château de Versailles, Glossa, and other labels.
Angioloni was born in Arezzo, Italy. He graduated from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence as an oboist but then switched to singing. He moved to Paris, studying opera with Jean-François Rouchon and then Enzo La Selva. Angioloni became affiliated with the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, where he could study and perform. He spent two years at the Centre in its Baroque music program, studying with Claire Lefilliâtre and Yetzabel Arias Fernandez and taking master classes with the likes of Barbara Bonney, Karine Deshayes, and Maarten Koningsberger, among others. Angioloni made his debut in 2013 at L'Apostrophe - Scène Nationale Theater in the city of Cergy-Pontoise, as Normanno in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. His resume was enhanced by prizes at the Zanuccoli and Orizzonte competitions. Angioloni's recording debut came in 2020 on Da Vinci Classics with the album Il Canto della Nutrice: Nurse Tenor Arias in Baroque Opera.
Angioloni has continued to record unusual Baroque material, but he has a large repertory stretching from the title role in Monteverdi's Orfeo to the Chevalier de la Force in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites. He has performed at such major venues as the Opéra Royal and Chapelle Royale de Versailles, the Paris Opera, the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, and the Tongyeong Concert Hall in South Korea. Angioloni has appeared under such leading Baroque-specialist conductors as Christophe Rousset, Andrew Lawrence-King, and Paul Agnew. His recordings include A Baroque Tenor: Arias for Annibale Fabri (Pan Records, 2022), Haendel: Poro, re delle Indie (Château de Versailles, 2023), and the French and Italian chanson recital Dolce Vita (Glossa, 2024).
