Lil Gotit
Emerging from the U.S. trap capital of Atlanta, rapper Lil Gotit swiftly rose to the top of the scene in the late 2010s, racking up support from famous fans such as Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, and his mentor Young Thug, whose distinct vocal style heavily influenced Gotit's delivery. He released his official debut, Hood Baby, in November 2018, followed by 2019's Crazy But It's True, home to his hit single "Da Real Hoodbabies." In the next decade, he released several more full-lengths, including 2020's Billboard-charting Hood Baby 2 and 2022's The Cheater.
Born Semaja Z. Render, he was raised in the city's south side. He started early in the rap game, writing with his brother, rapper Lil Keed, on early tracks such as "Trap Bunkin," an Atlanta club favorite. The pair would record their music at home and, when Gotit was kicked out of high school, he decided to pursue music full-time, soon committing to face tattoos and designer clothes. After appearing on 2016's Young Slime Mixtape, he released Super Squid the following year. He signed with Alamo Records for the release of his official debut, 2018's Hood Baby, which recruited Gunna, Lil Keed, HoodRich Pablo Juan, and more. Early the next year, he stepped it up with Crazy But It's True, scoring his first hit with the single "Da Real Hoodbabies."
In 2019, while preparing for the release of his third official set, Gotit issued the mixtape The Real Goat. Hood Baby 2 arrived the following year; squeaking onto the charts in the final slot, it marked his first appearance on the Billboard 200. Hood Baby 2 featured appearances by Lil Keed, Gunna, Lil Yachty, Future, and more. A 2020 appearance on the collaborative A-Team mixtape (which also featured Lil Yachty, Zaytoven, and his brother Lil Keed) was followed by his own Superstar Creature mixtape. He kept up his prolific run, releasing a new album each year including 2021's Top Chef Gotit and 2022's The Cheater, the latter of which featured Ty Dolla $ign and CEO Trayle, among others.
