Henryk Miskiewicz
Born in Żagań, Poland on June 2, 1951, Henryk Miśkiewicz is a jazz saxophonist and clarinetist. He began his musical journey by playing the accordion before attending the Secondary Music School in Wroclaw, eventually ending up at the State Higher School of Music (Warsaw). He began playing with various groups including Big Band Stadoła, Jazz Carriers, and Sun Ship. His recording career, which includes albums as a leader and as a sideman, began in 1973 on the album Carry On when he was still a member of Jazz Carriers. Albums on which he was the band leader include Życie Moje (1978), More Love (1994), Remembrances (1996), No More Love (2000), and a trio of albums in the Full Drive series (2004, 2007, and 2012). Henryk Miśkiewicz has also played on albums by Elżbieta Wojnowska, Łucja Prus, Michał Bajor, Janusz Kozłowski, Anna Maria Jopek, Piotr Schulz, and many others. Henryk Miśkiewicz is a three-time winner of the Fryderyk award of the Polish phonographic industry. He was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis in 2017. Henryk Miśkiewicz is the father of jazz drummer Michał Miśkiewicz.
