E-Rotic
The German dance band E-Rotic, led by singer Lyane Leigh and rapper David Brandes, released the European top hit "Max Don't Have Sex With Your Ex" in 1994, which achieved gold certification. Songs such as "Fred Come to Bed" and "Sex on the Phone" from the album Sex Affairs (1995) followed. The theme of sex became E-Rotic's trademark, evident on the album The Power of Sex (1996), which contained three more hit singles: "Willy Use a Willy.... Boy", "Help Me Mr. Dick" and "Fritz Love My Tits". Even though the entire record did not match the success of the first one, E-Rotic released further albums until their break-up in 2005. In 1997, ABBA cover album Thank You for the Music was released. Before that, E-Rotic failed in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Queen of Light", sung by Jeannette Christensen, who served as a double for public appearances. After the departure of rapper David Brande, the band took a hiatus, returning in 2015, after former singer Lyane Leigh returned with rapper Stephen Appleton as E-Rotic, releasing "Video Starlet" a year later, followed by a string of non-album singles including "Head Over Heels," (2021) "Heaven Can Wait" (2021) and "My Heart Is Ticking Like a Bomb" (2023).
