Marie Denise Pelletier
Born on April 3, 1960 in Montreal (Canada), Marie Denise Pelletier is a pop singer from Quebec. In 1982, she won the Prix d'interprétation at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby. She also won first place in Montreal radio station CKOI's Empire des futures stars contest. In 1985, she recorded her first single, " Échec Et Mat ", and the following year played the role of Stella Spolight in the rock opera Starmania . Marie Denise Pelletier released her first album in 1986, Premier Contact, and hit the radio waves with the song " T'es pas Brando ". A year later, she released her second opus, À l'État Pur , and placed three songs in the Quebec radio charts: " Pourquoi (si difficile de s'aimer) ", " Pour une histoire d'un soir " and " Tous les cris les S.O.S. ". In 1990, she returned with the album Survivre , which went gold in six weeks. It included five chart hits, including " L'Âme soeur ", which spent two weeks at number one. The following year, she presents a tribute album to Quebecois chanson, featuring covers of great Quebec classics. In 1993, Marie Denise Pelletier released her fifth album, Entre la Tête Et le Coeur , with six songs that were played on Quebec radio stations. The song " Inventer la terre" (Inventing the Earth ) put her at the top of the charts for four weeks. The following year, she won the Félix award for Best Pop Album of the Year with this opus. In 1998, she became the first Québécoise to be invited to the Festival du Vent in Corsica. She enters the new millennium with a new album, Plaisir d'Amour, featuring songs from the 20th century. In 2002, she took part in the musical Roméo Et Juliette , playing the role of the Nourrice. In 2004, she celebrated 20 years in the music business with the release of the compilation Ses Plus Belles Chansons . In 2005, she played the title role in the musical production Pélagie. She also presents her first Christmas album, Noël, Parle-Moi . In 2011, she marks 25 years in the profession with a self-titled album produced by Marc Pérusse. In 2014, Marie Denise Pelletier directed her first show, a tribute to Georges Hamel. In 2017, she offers a tribute album to an artist she greatly appreciates, Claude Léveillée. In 2020, she shares the stage with Joe Bocan and Marie Carmen in Pour une Histoire d'un Soir.
