Los Huanca Hua

Los Huanca Hua, an Argentine folk music group formed in Buenos Aires in 1960 and active until 2004 before making a return in 2012, revolutionized the genre with their innovative and avant-garde approach. Initially led by Chango Farías Gómez until 1966, then by his brother Pedro Farías Gómez, the group is noted for introducing polyphony into Argentine and Latin American folk music. Their repertoire includes famous songs like "Zamba de Navidad" and albums such as Misa Criolla (1965). The original lineup featured Chango Farías Gómez, Pedro Farías Gómez, Carlos "Coco" del Franco Terrero, Hernán Figueroa Reyes, and Guillermo Urien, with numerous changes over the years. The name "Los Huanca Hua" reflects their musical heritage, meaning "Children of Music" in Quechua Santiagueño.
