Jaspinder Narula
Jaspinder Narula (November 14, 1970) is an Indian playback singer who also performs in the classical and Sufi music genres. She is mostly known for her close ties to Hindi and Punjabi cinema and has featured in over a hundred films. The daughter of composer Kesar Singh Narula, she began singing mostly bhajan and Sufiana compositions under the tutelage of her father and later continued her studies with Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan of Rampur Sahaswan Gharana. After relocating to Mumbai, she made her official Bollywood debut in the film Judaai (1997) and later rose to fame thanks to the Remo Fernandes duet "Pyar to hona hi tha," featured in the 1998 film of the same name. That performance earned her a Filmfare award for Best Female Playback Singer and was the first of many hits that defined her career, including "Tera Rang Balle Balle" from Soldier (1998), "Bumbroo" from Mission Kashmir (2000), and the Punjabi song "Haan De Munde" from Yaaran Naal Baharan (2005). Over the next few years, Jaspinder Narula graduated from Delhi University in Hindustani classical music and continued to work with some of the most renowned composers in the business. "Vela Aa Gya Hai," her contribution to the film Chaar Sahibzaade, appeared in 2014.
