Coqui Sosa

Nephew of local folk icon Mercedes Sosa, Argentinean singer/songwriter Coqui Sosa was influenced by his family to pursue a music career. Singing and playing guitar at a very young age, the artist successfully participated in different traditional events, becoming an important number at Cosquin's National Folk Festival. In 1990, Coqui Sosa's first album, called A Pesar de Todo, was independently released and followed by 1992's Viene Clareando. 1993's Siglo de Esperanza was presented live at Buenos Aires' Alvear Theater in a show performed along with Víctor Heredia, Teresa Parodi, Roberto Carabajal, and his famous aunt. After issuing a live album, called Coqui Sosa En Vivo, the singer signed up to Epsa Music, recording Clásicos & Sueños. In September of 1996, the artist moved to the U.S., playing at New York's Lincoln Center and Washington's University. In 1998, his album Cuando Canto was released.
