Adam Bałdych
Adam Bałdych (born on May 18, 1986) is a Polish violinist and composer, hailed by many as one of the most innovative instrumentalists of his generation. Bałdych started studying violin at the age of 9 at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music, after which he received a scholarship to continue his studies at the Berklee College of Music. The release of Imaginary Room (2012), his critically-acclaimed studio debut, earned Bałdych several awards (most notably the ECHO Jazz Award and Best Jazz Album by the Jazz Melomani Society in 2013) and invitations to play at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival and the London Jazz Festival. In the following years, he teamed up with Israeli-born pianist Yaron Herman for The New Tradition (2014) and collaborated with Norwegian jazz outfit Helge Lien Trio on Bridges (2015) and Brothers (2017). Bałdych also became the youngest artist to receive the Gold Cross of Merit and the Medal of Merit from the Polish government. In 2019, he recorded Sacrum Profanum under the name Adam Bałdych Quartet, featuring jazz musicians Michal Baranski, Dawid Fortuna, and Krzysztof Dys. That same year, he was also nominated for the BMW Jazz Awards.
