Pierre Génisson

Pierre Génisson, born in Marseilles in 1986, is emerging as one of the leading exponents of the French wind school. He has won notable distinctions, including 1st Prize at the prestigious Carl Nielsen International Competition and the Audience Prize at the Jacques Lancelot International Competition in Tokyo. His recordings on the Aparté label have received unanimous critical acclaim, accumulating awards such as the Diapason d'Or, the Choc de l'année from Classica, the ffff from Télérama, and the Sunday Times "CD of the week", among others. Pierre Genisson trained at the CNSM in Paris, winning unanimous first prizes in clarinet and chamber music. He then perfected his art at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles with Yehuda Gilad, obtaining an Artist Diploma. As a soloist, he has collaborated with prestigious orchestras and renowned conductors, performing a diverse repertoire. An avid chamber musician, Pierre Genisson participates in encounters with string quartets and renowned soloists. He is the dedicatee of Eric Tanguy's Clarinet Concerto, and is involved in musical creation, collaborating with composers such as Thierry Escaich and Karol Beffa. A Buffet Crampon ambassador, he gives masterclasses around the world and teaches at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. He was honored by the Académie des Beaux-Arts de l'Institut de France with the "Cino del Duca" Performance Prize in 2018, as well as by the Foundations Banque Populaire, Safran, and "Musique et Vin au Clos Vougeot". In 2020, Pierre Génisson recorded a CD in London with the BBC Concert Orchestra, devoted to Benny Goodman and including jazz standards as well as pieces by Copland, Gershwin and Stravinsky. In 2023, as an exclusive artist with Warner Classics, he will record a CD dedicated to Mozart, including the Clarinet Concerto with the Concerto Köln ensemble.
