Xuesu Liu

Xuesu Liu is a Chinese pianist who was born into a musical family. A child prodigy, she received her first piano lesson at age six and began giving recitals shortly thereafter. From 1978 to 1984 she studied at the middle school of the Central Conservatory in Beijing, and was taught by Chen Huisu. After she had graduated with distinction, she studied piano full-time with Bao Huiqiao. In 1987 she moved to Berlin, where she entered the University of Arts and studied with Klaus Hellwig. For her debut in Germany, she played a recital in the hall of the Berlin Philharmonic. She has performed as a piano soloist with orchestras in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and actively pursued chamber music with such artists as clarinetist Ib Hausmann, cellist Patrick Demenga, and cellist Yi-Bing Chu. With violinist Daniel Gaede and cellist Julius Berger, she founded Trio Cecile in 2001.
