VHOOR
Vhoor is Brazilian beatmaker Victor Hugo de Oliveira Rodrigues, whose ebullient take on baile funk, a party-starting hybrid of Miami bass and gangsta rap, has won him fans worldwide. The Belo Horizonte native's distinctive production style, which also traffics in elements of footwork, trap, Afro-house, and freestyle, has elicited praise from international media outlets and drawn comparisons to genre-hopping contemporaries like Kaytranada, Park Hye Jin, and Sango, the latter of whom collaborated with Vhoor on the pair's acclaimed 2019 EP, Acima. In 2021, he teamed up with Brazilian rapper FBC and released Baile, a Miami bass and freestyle-forward set that appeared on multiple year-end lists and included the viral hit "Se Ta Solteira." His solo instrumental albums have also been well-received, with efforts like Ritmo (2021), Baile & Bass (2022), and Viaduto (2023) showcasing his mastery of infusing electronic music with Brazilian and Afro-Latino rhythms.
