Starting out on the Adelaide jazz circuit during the 1990s as a vocalist for the band Crisp, Australian songstress Sia Kate Isobelle Furler (December 18, 1975), known mononymously as Sia, only made it into the mainstream after she moved to the UK. After a stint doing backing vocals for Jamiroquai, her debut UK release, Healing Is Difficult was released in 2000, spawning the single “Taken for Granted” which reached Number 10 in the UK. Following on from this success, Sia's track “Breathe Me” from sophomore album, Colour the Small One (2004), was used in the finale of the 2005 drama Six Feet Under. After embarking on a successful 2006 tour and working closely with Zero 7, notably on their Garden album, Sia released the live album Lady Croissant (2007), and in 2008 recorded her fourth album Some People Have Real Problems. After co-writing songs for Christina Aguilera's album Bionic, Sia began work on her fifth album, which she released in 2010 under the title We Are Born. The album produced three singles: “You've Changed,” “Clap Your Hands,” and “Bring Night,” and was certified gold in Australia. Struggling to cope with her newfound fame, Sia stepped out of the spotlight to focus solely on songwriting. Her first venture, “Titanium,” was later recorded by David Guetta who used Sia's demo vocals on the track and the single broke the top around the world, making it to Number 1 in the UK. “Chandelier,” the lead single from 2015’s 1000 Forms of Fear, helped the album peak at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 and received four Grammy nominations. This Is Acting, followed in 2016, featuring songs that she had written for other artists, catapulting hit single “Cheap Thrills”  to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2021, Sia made her directorial debut with the film Music, which acted as a companion piece to her ninth album, Music – Songs from and Inspired by the Motion Picture. Featuring guest spots by David Guetta, Burna Boy, and Labrinth, the LP was released in the first part of 2021 and included the single “Saved My Life,” co-written with Dua Lipa. Her tenth studio album album Reasonable Woman, released in 2024, was launched with the global hit "Gimme Love" and included collaborations with Kylie Minogue, Chaka Khan, Labrinth, Paris Hilton, and Tierra Whack.
