sherine ِِAbdel Wahab

Considered one of Egypt's biggest pop divas, Sherine Sayed Mohamed Abdel-Wahab (October 8, 1980), or simply Sherine, is an Egyptian singer, actress, and TV personality. Born and raised in Cairo, Sherine was just a young child when she started singing. At the age of 9, her school’s music teacher urged her mother to take her to the Cairo Opera House, where she auditioned in front of legendary conductor Selim Sehab. Impressed by her vocal talents, Sehab invited her to join the Cairo Opera Children’s Choir. As a stable member of the ensemble, Sherine had the chance to study and further refine her craft, and by the time she turned 18, she was already a highly-skilled solo performer. Around this time, she met producer and music executive Nasr Mahrous, who helped her get her foot in the door in the pop music industry through his Free Music imprint. She made her official recording debut with the single “Ah Ya Leil” (2000) and broke into the mainstream with the Tamer Hosny collaborative LP Free Mix 3 (2002), a blockbuster of an album that sold over 30 million copies across the Middle East and North Africa. Now a superstar in the Arab-speaking world, Sherine continued her hot streak with the albums Garh Tany (2003), Lazem Ayesh (2005), Batamenak (2008) Habeat (2009), and the chart-topping Esaal Alaya (2012). In subsequent years, she followed up with Ana Kiteer (2014) and Taree'i (2015), and became a judge on MBC’s The Voice: Ahla Sawt before dropping Nassay, her eight album, in 2018.
