SATURNUS
Originally formed in 1991 by vocalist Thomas A.G. Jensen and bassist Brian Hansen as Asesino, Saturnus changed their name in 1993 and released their debut Demo EP the following year. The Copenhagen-originating band went on to perfect their explosive, uncompromising and gothic metal-tinged take on death-doom across five albums, beginning with 1997's full-length debut Paradise Belongs to You in 1997 and taking in second album Martyre (2000), third LP Veronika Decides to Die (2006)—inspired by Paulo Coelho's 1998 novel of the same name—and fourth offering Saturn in Ascension (2012), released following a six-year hiatus. After taking an eleven-year break between releases, Saturnus returned in 2023 with comeback album The Storm Within, propelled by its first single "The Calling" and cracking the German charts for the first time (#97).
