Lau Nau
Lau Nau is the performance alias of Finnish musician Laura Naukkarinen. Often working with collaborators, she writes, performs, and records reflective, experimental songs that blend elements of folk, chamber music, and atmospheric post-rock. Her debut album, 2004's Kuutarha, received a U.S. release by Locust Music, which also issued the follow-up, Nukkuu, in 2008. Her third label release, Valohiukkanen, arrived via Finland's Fonal Records in 2012 and was nominated for a Teosto Prize, which recognizes innovative Finnish music. Lau Nau then provided the original score for the 2013 film Silmäterä (The Princess of Egypt), and Fonal issued her instrumental music for the documentary HEM. Någonstans (Home Somewhere) in 2015. Her own Poseidon album followed in 2017 on Fonal and Beacon Sound/Forced Exposure. It was co-produced by Kronos Quartet and Múm collaborator Samuli Kosminen of the experimental rock group KTU.
