JoJo Siwa

Singer, dancer, and social media star Jojo Siwa is known for her upbeat personality and electronic, dance-oriented pop music. Siwa first garnered fame on the reality TV series Dance Moms before launching her popular YouTube channel. Along with appearing regularly in Nickelodeon productions, she also released three Top 25 Billboard Kid Albums-charting EPs: 2018's D.R.E.A.M. The Music, 2019's Celebrate, and 2020's Jojo's Rockin' Christmas. In 2021, she competed on season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. At the same time, she came out as LGBTQ+ and began embracing a more grown-up image. In 2024, she heralded her full-length debut album and hit the Top Ten of the dance charts with the EDM-style single "Karma." Born Joelle Joanie "JoJo" Siwa in 2003 in Omaha, Nebraska, she was first introduced to dancing by her mother, dance instructor Jessalynn Siwa. In 2013, at just nine years old, she garnered national attention appearing with her mom on the second season of the reality TV show Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition. A fan favorite for her feisty, cherubic charisma and trademark hair bows, Siwa finished the competition in fifth place. Soon after, she and her mother joined the offshoot show Dance Moms, appearing for two seasons. In 2015, building upon her reality show popularity, Siwa launched her own YouTube channel, hosting Q&As, participating in "challenges," and vlogging. By 2016, she had also released her debut single, "Boomerang," an upbeat pop track with an anti-cyberbullying message that eventually went double platinum. More songs followed, including "Kid in a Candy Store" and "Hold the Drama," which helped to expand her ever-growing fan base. In 2018, Siwa released her debut EP, D.R.E.A.M. The Music, which cracked the Top 25 of Billboard's Kid Albums chart. She reached the Top 20 with her subsequent EPs, 2019's Celebrate and 2020's Jojo's Rockin' Christmas. Along the way, she continued to act, appearing in the 2018 Nickelodeon film Blurt! and voicing characters in 2019's The Angry Birds Movie 2. She also expanded her brand, releasing books and dolls, as well as an accessories and cosmetics line. In 2020, she appeared as the T-Rex on season three of The Masked Singer. She also released the non-album single "Nonstop." The following year, Siwa came out as LGBTQ+ and joined the season 30 cast of Dancing with the Stars as one-half of the show's first-ever same-sex partnership. With an eye to adopting a more grown-up pop persona, she signed a recording contract with Columbia Records and in April 2024 released the EDM-infused anthem "Karma" as the lead single off her full-length debut album. It reached number five on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
