Following graduation, he quickly rose through the ranks of theater conductors, working at the Hamburg State Opera (1994-1995), the Lubeck Opera (1995-1997), and the Bremen Theater (2001-2005). Feltz has led performances across Germany, with orchestras in Berlin, Bamberg, Dresden, Mannheim, Cologne, and Leipzig, among others, and has conducted outside of Germany, notably with ensembles in Vienna, Bern, Antwerp, Belgrade, and Basel, as well as with the RTE National Symphony of Ireland, the KBS Symphony Orchestra Seoul, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, and the China National Symphony Orchestra. Since 2004, he has served as the chief conductor and general music director of the Stuttgart Philharmonic. Feltz has recorded extensively for radio broadcasts, with many performances of operas and standard orchestral repertoire to his credit. He has recorded music by Mozart, Strauss, Mahler, Suk, Respighi, Scriabin, Ligeti, and most significantly, Rachmaninov, whose symphonies and tone poems were recorded by the Stuttgart Philharmonic under Feltz, and which won an award from the Rachmaninov Foundation for promoting the composer's music in Germany.
