Chris Calloway
The daughter of jazz icon Cab Calloway, singer Chris Calloway got an early start in the music industry when she performed with her father on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW in the 1960s. Calloway went on to a career in both musical theater and music, singing alongside her father in his touring Hi-Dee-Ho Orchestra for 20 years. The singer’s one woman show, CLOUDS OF JOY: THE SPIRITUAL JOURNEY OF BLANCHE CALLOWAY, produced in 2001, tells the story of her aunt, a bandleader in the ‘30s. The album LIVE AT ESPIRITU, recorded in the ‘90s, is Calloway’s lone solo recording, and documents her talents as a jazz vocalist. Calloway died in 2009.
