Bassjackers
Following in the footsteps of a long list of Dutch DJs, Bassjackers deal in dancefloor anthems and throbbing, trancey sets. Unusually for a duo though, one member remains in the studio producing tracks while the other is out on the road playing shows. From his first nights out as a teenager, Marlon Flohr became fascinated with the art of DJ-ing and began taking control of the decks at friends' house parties. Within a year he was out playing bars and local clubs, and in 2007 he started collaborating with school friend Ralph van Hilst whose interest in music had been stoked through experimenting with beats and melodies on his laptop.
Rising from their hometown of Tilburg in the south of The Netherlands, they released early singles '16' and 'Rocker' with the help of DJ Fedde Le Grand, but really got their break when Tiësto took a liking to their track 'Mush Mush' in 2011. The legendary house DJ started playing a mash-up of their wired, jumping synth wig-out on his radio show and then released it through his label Musical Freedom; pretty soon it was becoming a favourite on EDM site Beatport and was spun live by the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Hardwell and Dimitri Vegas.
As their reputation grew, Bassjackers played dance festival Tomorrowland for the first time in 2013 and became regular club favourites in Ibiza and Las Vegas, remixing for major artists including Moby, Steve Aoki and Rihanna. They also had collaborations with Showtek on their single 'Hey' and with Martin Garrix on 'Crackin'' and were ranked at number 35 on DJ Magazine's Top 100 list for four consecutive years from 2015.
