The new year has barely begun and the month of January is already making us salivate with the arrival of a whole host of new albums in all styles! Eclecticism, with ears wide open, is the credo of Qobuz! Here's a little taste of the imminent releases...

Starting off with a bang, Iggy Pop will unpack Every Loser on January 6th. A 19th album that the Iguana made with Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums, Duff McKagan of Guns N'Roses on bass, and Andrew Watt on guitar. This is all the more proof that at 75 years old, James Osterberg doesn't envisage retirement, nor a lull, nor a retirement home...

Less noisy but no less inhabited, the duo formed by Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Fazıl Say will release an album Janáček - Brahms - Bartók this same January 6th for the label Alpha Classics. A recording that marks the reformation of the mythical duo bringing together the Moldavian violinist and the Turkish pianist of whom she says "is a volcano, with indomitable strength and energy"...

Onto something more groovy, Bulli promises to be a highlight of 2023. New contender for the throne of experimental R&B, Jeremy Nutzman aka Velvet Negroni signs a second opus as elusive as its predecessor and on which he fuses the influence of 80's Prince, the futuristic R&B of The Weeknd and Bon Iver style electro folk.

He is rare to find on record. So, each new John Cale delivery is an event. Especially since Lou Reed's ex-complice in the Velvet Underground had not released anything since Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood in 2012! But Mercy, which will be released on the 20th of January, is not an event for that reason alone. At 80 years old, Cale has surrounded himself with a fine line-up of young artists including Weyes Blood, Animal Collective, Sylvan Esso and Actress. Yet further proof of his regular need to challenge himself despite his untouchable status...

More than a decade after the end of Supergrass, its charismatic leader, Gaz Coombes, pursues a solo career that would be wrong to neglect or consider anecdotal. Expected on January 13th, Turn The Car Around proves that the Oxford-born songwriter excels in contemporary rock. Conceived in Los Angeles, this third solo opus is inspired, according to its author, "by local grass, Frank Ocean's Blonde album and Grayson Perry's The Descent Of Man and explores masculinity".
