Xila

NurShahila binti Amir Amzah (born on August 13, 1990), aka Shila Amzah, recorded her debut album Terima Kasih Guru (2000) when she was just 10 years old. The daughter of musician ND Lala and actress Fauziah Sarman, Amzah developed a passion for music from a very early age and pretty much spent her childhood in recording studios. The success of her debut album led to a contract with EMI, who released Sha-Hila, her sophomore effort, in 2005. Propelled by the hit single “Yang Teristimewa,” the album established her as one of the most popular artists in her native Malaysia. Once her contract with EMI ended in 2007, she participated in the second season of reality singing competition One in a Million, where she finished as first runner-up, landing a recording contract with Monkey Bone Records. Third album Bebaskan arrived in 2009 and the collaborative album 3 Suara dropped in 2011, with the hit “Patah Seribu” winning Pop Song of the Year at the Malaysian Music Awards. Her eponymous fifth studio album saw the light in 2013, and was followed by a victory on the Chinese reality music competition Asian Wave, which resulted in a successful crossover to Mandopop with the single “A Moment Like This,” released that same year. Thanks to an appearance in the second season of the reality music show I Am Singer, Amzah expanded her fanbase in countries like China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, where she achieved massive success through the 2015 singles “See You or Never” and “Goodbye,” which received the Song of the Year Award by Metro Radio Mandarin. Her debut Chinese album, My Journey, was released in 2016 and spawned a subsequent tour throughout Asia.
