Composer, producer and musician Gazelle Twin’s collaboration with composer Max de Wardener brings the blend of traditional musical concepts and futuristic pop from her latest album Pastoral (an album of 2018 for BBC6Music, The Quietus and many more) to a full symphony orchestra. Gazelle Twin is the moniker for performance artist, composer and producer Elizabeth Bernholz whose conceptual albums present dystopian themes through unconventional electronic production and extraordinary live performances which feature changing personas.

About Gazelle Twin
Composer, musician and producer Elizabeth Bernholz, conceived Gazelle Twin in 2009, releasing her debut album, The Entire City, which includes the singles Changelings and I Am Shell I Am Bone in 2011. The album was followed in 2014 by the acclaimed release, Unflesh, which unveiled an onstage costume based on Bernholz’s teenage PE kit, allowing her to “go back to my teenage years to literally live out the idea of being a freak, like I thought I was (and was often made to feel) at the time”.
Gazelle Twin’s third studio album, Pastoral, was released to widespread acclaim in 2018 and featured on Uncut, Rough Trade and HMV’s Albums of the Year. DJ and journalist Stuart Maconie has also selected the album for BBC 6 Music as his Album of 2018. The LP is fronted by Bernholz’s “red imp” character in a costume fit for a court jester of the 21st Century. “It” (not “he” or “she”) hints at folkloric traditions with a footy mascot twist. Brandishing a sneer and a hobby horse; a riddle and a recorder; a jeer and a square dance in red, Adidas Gazelles, and a mad, fixed GRIN – it was first glimpsed in the single, Hobby Horse. Follow up single, Glory, looked further back into England’s crusader past and the accompanying film sees Bernholz unmasked, giving face to a host of characters.
