“Ce disque, c’est juste du fun. C’est de la musique pour la parade. Si vous n’êtes pas de bonne humeur, ce n’est pas la peine de l’écouter !”, a prévenu Young Thug. Et comme c’est la fête, il a invité tous ses amis du rap game sur ce disque XXL qui compte 13 featurings pour 19 titres ! Mais c’est bien seul que le rappeur d’Atlanta démarre cet album avec Just How It Is : juste une guitare folk, une basse et un beat minimaliste, pour nous laisser suivre tranquillement son flow toujours aussi mélodieux. On passe direct au plat de résistance avec Sup Mate, en collaboration avec une autre superstar du hip-hop US, Future, pas aussi cinglant que d’habitude sur une production hantée signée ATL Jacob (un fidèle de Future) et DY Krazy (808 Mafia).
Parmi les autres bons moments du disque, on citera Surf, avec Gumma, un pur tube de barbecue, la belle perf de Lil Duke sur I Bought Her, le refrain de Bad Bad Bad (feat. Lil Baby), qui restera dans les têtes un bon moment, et le single The London, relégué à la fin, avec les deux poids lourds Travis Scott et J. Cole – ce dernier supervisant la production du disque. En solo, Young Thug est aussi toujours saignant comme il le démontre sur Jumped out the Window, sur un piano stressé, ou sur Pussy, où il prend l’accent de Tenor Saw (auteur du classique du reggae dancehall Ring The Alarm).
