Jack et la Mécanique du Coeur est la bande originale du film du même nom, co-réalisé par Mathias Malzieu, qui concrétise au passage l'un de ses rêves. Il était difficile d'ignorer que l'histoire de La Mécanique du Coeur a déjà été traitée musicalement en 2007 avec l'album sorti en même temps que le roman. Ce n'est donc pas une surprise de retrouver ce disque comme colonne vertébrale de Jack et la Mécanique du Coeur.
Dionysos s'est en fait contenté d'ajouter des interludes et quelques chansons supplémentaires pour faire coïncider la durée de la bande sonore à celle du film. C'est bien peu et cela ne modifie pas radicalement l'univers poétique de La Mécanique du Coeur , qui tenait déjà bien sur ses appuis. Seule l'introduction constituée par « Jack et la Mécanique du Coeur » est essentielle, étant placée là pour offrir au spectateur une entrée en matière rapide dans l'univers du film et de ses personnages.
On ne peut pas dire en termes d'apport que la country enfantine de « Down By the Hill » ou le court « Les Larmes de Mister Chat » soient d'une nécessité absolue hors du film. À l'inverse, le swing de « Miss Acacia est la locomotive » ajoute une bonne chanson de plus à la collection originale.
Ne nous-y trompons pas, l'évènement est bien le film Jack et la Mécanique du Coeur , que Luc Besson n'a pas produit par pur altruisme. Le disque en est à la fois la bande son essentielle et un ensemble de chansons déjà connues dans leur écrasante majorité. Ce paradoxe le rend dispensable à ceux qui auront certainement la patience d'attendre la sortie du DVD pour garder une trace de Jack et la Mécanique du Coeur.
