It all began in 1964 for Kool & The Gang at Lincoln High School in New Jersey, when brothers Robert and Ronald Bell persuaded their classmates to join their band ‘Jazziacs’. They could not imagine that one day they would sell 80 million albums... After their beginnings in jazz, the band became the reference of the disco era and their songs are still used as samples by numerous musicians today. Their soulful funk reached its peak with the albums Ladies' Night (1979), Celebrate! (1980), and Emergency (1984). After the lead singer James "J.T." Taylor left the band in 1988, their productions faded away, but they continued to float on the successes of their previous years and spread their disco funk sound around the world. Songs like "Celebration", "Ladies Night" or "Get Down On It" have been an integral part of every party since the formation of the band. Ronald Bell, who always believed in a late reunion of the band, died on 9 September 2020. Let the groove of this playlist infect you!
