12 years later, the Long Island trio makes its big comeback!

For a few years now, the words "crisis" and "record" have gone disturbingly well together. To the point where music legends like De La Soul have to resort to crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter to afford studio time. Thanks to the crowdfunding website, the trio from Long Island have finally been able to put And The Anonymous Nobody to bed. Available to preorder in Hi-Res from today and officially released on the 26 of August, the S.O.S sent out by Posdnuos, Dave and Maseo clearly resonated with fans, since De La Soul received $600,000 in thirty three days, making their campaign the second most lucrative in the whole history of Kickstarter! 12 years after The Grind Date, their last genuine studio album, the group now has another. What's more, their Ft. list is absolutely ridiculous, a real who's who: Jill Scott, Snoop Dogg, Damon Albarn, David Byrne, Little Dragon, 2chainz, Usher, Roc Marciano, Estelle, Pete Rock, and even the British singer Justin Hawkins from The Darkness! Despite the eclecticism of its guests, this record hits the mark every time and doesn't beat about the bush. Far from the regularities of traditional rap, De La Soul crosses over from territory to territory and do as they please. As an approach, it's a lot closer to their first album from 1989, the masterpiece that is 3 Feet High And Rising. And The Anonymous Nobody therefore sounds like a rejoicing, fun-filled celebration of the band's roots, an album made by friends for friends, no pride or prejudice involved, just the shared love of music. You'll want to listen to this one over and over again.
