EL VY unites Matt Berninger, the lead singer and lyricist of The National, with Brent Knopf, the musician and producer behind the Portland groups Ramona Falls and Menomena. Their first album together, Return To The Moon, is a mature, fully-realised project, dating back to the time when their respective bands toured a collection of small, half-empty rooms on the western coast of the United States… The duo’s friendship is built upon a strong musical affinity, which led the two Americans to exchange song-sketches, ideas, and lyrics via e-mail for a number of years. At the end of 2014, they finally got to record an album together. The result is Return To The Moon, an achingly beautiful pop album, where the serious, haunting, ever-melodic voice of Matt Berninger meets the arrangements and inventive production of Brent Knopf.
