Samira Brahmia

Born in the 1970s, Samira Brahmia grew up in Besançon (25), France, before returning to Algeria during her childhood. She soon expressed her desire for an artistic career in song, and in 1994 joined the rock group Index. A fixture on the Algerian art scene, Samira Brahmia appeared in Merzak Allouache's film L'autre monde, in which she sang a composition of her own. Finding it difficult to fulfill her musical dream in Algeria, she moved to France in 2003, where she recorded her first album, Naïliya (2006). The artist showcases traditional Algerian music and performs on stage, including at the Cabaret Sauvage in Paris. However, Samira Brahmia achieved greater notoriety in 2015 when she took part in season 4 of The Voice in France, then in 2018 in the Arab version of the show. These experiences helped build up her audience, which found her in the cinema in 2016 for Rachida Brakni's film De sas en sas , and again on record for a second album in 2022, Awa, with strong Mediterranean accents highlighting migrations.
