Jim Gill

A popular children's musician, author, and educator, Jim Gill's banjo-led singalongs, tongue-twisting lyrics, and inclusive dance parties have been delighting kids and families for decades. Based out of Oak Park, Illinois, Gill earned his graduate degree in child development -- with an emphasis on the study of play -- at the Erikson Institute of Chicago. He developed his unique performance style, which focuses on wordplay and movement, while working with special needs children and various therapeutic and family support agencies in and around Chicago. The Unstoppable String Quartet, a small backing band, often accompanies Gill's performances, but for the most part, he travels the country with his trusty banjo. Since emerging in the early 1990s, Gill has released dozens of records, including Jim Gill Sings the Sneezing Song and Other Contagious Tunes, Jim Gill's Irrational Anthem and More Salutes to Nonsense, and Music Play for Folks of All Stripes. In 2019 he released Jim Gill's Most Celebrated Songs, a three-volume set that featured highlights from throughout his career.
