Eddy Louiss Trio

French organist Eddy Louiss (1941-2015) enjoyed a dual career in jazz and variety. A member of the group Les Double Six in 1961, he accompanied Claude Nougaro the following year and for over a decade, as well as other chanson stars such as Serge Gainsbourg, Barbara, Jacques Higelin and Charles Aznavour. However, it was through jazz that he gained notoriety, through his many collaborations with Dizzy Gillespie, Daniel Humair and Jean-Luc Ponty (in the HLP trio) and Kenny Clarke, as well as in Stan Getz's quartet. He formed the big band Multicolor Feeling and performed as a duo with Michel Petrucciani and Richard Galliano. From 1962 to 2001, Eddy Louiss recorded some twenty albums as a leader, including Eddy Louiss Orgue (1972) and Histoire Sans Parole (1979). Faced with health problems, he died on June 30, 2015 at the age of 74.
