Alberto Pinton

Born March 4, 1962 in Marghera, Venice, Italy, Albert Pinton is a reed player specializing in the saxophone, clarinet, and flute. He’s also a composer, educator, and bandleader who works in a variety of genres. Although he doesn’t focus on one instrument, he is best-known for his unique musical approach to the saxophone. When he first began studying music, he learned to play the piano and guitar and didn’t switch to the sax until he was 20 years old. Pinton received scholarships from the Berklee College of Music and the Manhattan School of Music. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Saxophone Performance at Berklee, Boston, in 1990 and with a master's degree in Saxophone. He moved to Stockholm, Sweden and began his career as a freelance musician. Pinton has recorded as a bandleader and sideman, collaborating with artists like Kenny Wheeler, Bob Brookmeyer, Maria Schneider, Kenny Werner, Peter Erskine, Joe Lovano, Steve Swallow, Carla Bley, the Swedish Radio Jazz Group, Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, and many others. As a recording artist, he has recorded solo as well as with his trio and quintet and various other groups.
