Vocalist Foxy Brown's first full-length release on Ras in 1989 was a major disappointment. The singer long considered among the better pure vocalists in her generation sounded flat, unconvincing and wooden on several of the set's 10 songs, especially the remake of Luther Vandross' "Never Too Much" called "Thousand Kisses." Brown's version lacked range, warmth and conviction, while her cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" and Surface's "Shower Me With Your Love" were also unsuccessful attempts at revising pop and urban contemporary material into a reggae mode. Brown seemed a half-octave off on almost every number, and the arrangements and production weren't any better.
