Awek
It's with the sweat of sixteen years of intensive live performances that Awek has carved out a place for itself in the French blues scene. Starting out as a timid band from Toulouse, Awek cut their teeth mainly on covers with Back to the Same Place in 1997. Awek went on to write a full-length album with Chess Session in 1998. The band found their style with Barber Shop (2001) and Messin'with the Blues (2004). They were voted best French blues band in 2004 and 2005. 2005's Just Pick Up the Pieces was voted best album at the Trophées France Blues. Burnin' Wire on South Lamar (2007) was recorded in Austin, Texas, and introduced a Southern influence to Awek's Chicago blues. In 2008, Awek was a finalist in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. After It's Rollin' in 2010, Awek confirms his international stature with Rich and Famous in June 2012.
