The following text may provide an explanation for the silence: (Mozart) is indisputably one of the greatest of original geniuses, and up until now I have known no other composer who possesses such an amazingly rich imagination. I would only wish that he were not so wasteful with it. He doesn't give the listener time to catch his breath; for when one wants a moment to think about some beautiful idea, there is already another beauty there before one which obscures the first, and it always goes on that way without pause , so that at the end one cannot keep one of these beauties in one's memory.
