Nachdem Matthew Murphy 2020 unter dem Namen Love Fame Tragedy sein Solodebüt vorlegte (Wherever I Go, I Want to Leave), folgt Anfang 2022 das fünfte Album seiner Band The Wombats: Fix Yourself, Not the World. Wie schon der Vorgänger Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life (2018) und auch sein Soloausflug sind die Songs ganz von Murphys Innenleben geprägt, erzählen von Selbsthass und spielen auf Drogenmissbrauch an - und präsentieren das mit Pop-Ironie als Mischung aus flotten Post-Punk-Grooves und eingängigen Neunziger-Jahre-Britpop-Hooks. Vorab wurden die Songs "Method to the Madness", "If You Ever Leave, I'm Coming with You", "Ready for the High" und "Everything I Love Is Going to Die" vorgestellt. Das Album kam an die Spitze der UK-Charts.
