Mit dem Track "King" landete die Elektro-Pop-Gruppe Years & Years in England auf Platz 1 der Charts, in der BBC-Prognose "Sound of 2015" wurde sie als größter Hoffnungsträger für dieses Jahr gehandelt. Mit dem im Juli 2015 erschienenen Communion präsentiert die Band um Schauspieler und Sänger Olly Alexander ihren Sound nun erstmals auf Albumlänge. Da trifft der Ambient-hafte Synth-Pop von M83 auf den Dancefloor-Groove eines Justin Timberlake, während Club-Sounds mit dem basslastigen Puls von Bands wie New Order vermischt werden. Trotz unterschiedlichster Einflüsse wie Flying Lotus, Radiohead und Diplo bleiben Years & Years aber vornehmlich eine Popband und passen zu ähnlich gearteten Musikern wie La Roux oder Frankmusik.
