Talila

The daughter of Polish Jews who survived the Holocaust, Talila was born in France after the Second World War. An actress and singer, Talila strives to keep alive the Yiddish language, which was the vernacular of the Jews of Central and Eastern Europe before its speakers were massacred by the Brown and Red Madnesses. Talila has been building a body of work between traditional chanson, klezmer, jazz and French chanson since 1977. She won the Prix Charles Cros with the Kol Aviv ensemble for Ott Ozoy (1977). In 1987, she released Yiddish, le Chant du Monde with Teddy Lasry, who became her musical partner. She also collaborates with Ben Zimet on several albums, including Yiddish Atmosphère in 2000. After Mon Yiddish Blues in 2010, Talila returns for Le Temps des Bonheurs with André Ceccarelli.
