Willy Astor

A widely popular and successful Bavarian born German cabaret artist -- musician, comedian, songwriter -- Willy Astor was born in Munich on September 6, 1961. His first foray into the world of performance came at the young age of 14, in the group Akkordeonspiel. From there, he went on to University studies in engineering, before finally settling for a life in the public eye in the early '80s. His career began to blossom in the '90s, and he made his first television appearance in 1993, which then led to a string of successful albums. Over the 20-year course of his career, Astor has put on nearly 20 cabaret shows, and in 1998 was chosen to collaborate on a song -- "FC Bayern -- Stern des Sudens" which would become the official anthem of the very successful and very popular Bavarian soccer club Bayern Munich. In 2008, Astor released a compilation of his most popular work, entitled Der Bestimmer 2008.
