With his urgent, emotive vocals and haunting production, singer/songwriter and producer Trevor Daniel delivers vulnerable, synth-washed confessionals similar to Post Malone and blackbear. The Texan emerged in the late 2010s with a series of singles that soon surpassed the million-stream mark. His EP Homesick landed in 2018, but it wasn't until the next year that it gained enough traction to break Daniel on the Billboard 200. Based in Houston, Daniel was a high school athlete who turned his attention to music. He learned production skills online via his future label, Internet Money Records, uploading music and building his audience with a series of viral tracks, including 2015's "Fool." By 2018, he had collected over a million streams for singles such as "Pretend" and "Mirror." The dramatic, trap-indebted "Falling" was his first major hit, racking over 70 million streams and benefitting, in part, by a booming blackbear remix. The track landed on his 2018 EP, Homesick, which took a steady hike to the Billboard 200, finally placing on the chart over a year later in late 2019. That same year, he issued the Weeknd-esque, '80s synth romp "Trouble" and the Restless EP. Daniel's full-length debut, Nicotine, arrived in March 2020 and included the song "Past Life," co-written by Finneas O'Connell.

With his haunted and vulnerable confessionals, Texas singer/songwriter and producer Trevor Daniel built a devoted underground following with the single "Falling" and its accompanying blackbear remix. The track appeared on his 2018 EP Homesick, an R&B-and-trap-kissed affair that channeled early Post Malone and the spirit of 808s and Heartbreak. However, it wasn't until late 2019 that the effort landed on the Billboard 200, charting at number 171. © Neil Z. Yeung /TiVo
