The Blood Lines

Named after the band's own family ties, the Blood Lines are an indie rock foursome from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The band took root in 2006, when brothers Paul and Barrett Ross merged with siblings Maygen and S.J. Kardash. After a slew of Canadian tour dates (as well as a brief U.S. visit, where the band played the CMJ Music Marathon), the Blood Lines joined fellow Canadians the Dears on a tour of western Canada. A self-titled studio album followed, with the bandmates decamping to S.J. Kardash's home studio to record a mix of neo-shoegaze indie rock and '70s-inspired guitar riffs. Released independently on the band's own dime, The Blood Lines found success on college radio and XM stations; it also took home an award at the 2007 Western Canadian Music Awards.
