Terra Lightfoot

Terra Lightfoot is a versatile and charismatic Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist who employs a potent blend of roots rock, blues-rock, power pop, country-rock, and Americana. Known for her powerhouse vocals and six-string prowess, her third long-player, 2017's New Mistakes, earned two Juno nominations and was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize. She continued to hone her buoyant pop/rock sound on 2023's Healing Power, which was released on her own label Midnight Choir. Terra Lightfoot got her start in 2010 as a member of the Southern Ontario-based folk-rock collective Dinner Belles. A skilled guitarist with a powerful, multi-octave voice who cites Leadbelly, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, T. Rex, Melanie, Chet Baker, and the Move as influences, Lightfoot released her eponymous debut solo outing via Sonic Unyon in 2011. She worked with the Stills' Gus van Go and Werner F on her hook-heavy sophomore effort, Every Time My Mind Runs Wild, and 2017 follow-up New Mistakes, which was nominated for a 2018 Juno Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year and received a long-list Polaris Music Prize nod. High profile support slots for Bruce Cockburn, Blue Rodeo, Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Posies, The Sheepdogs, and Willie Nelson preceded the release of 2020's country-rock-leaning Consider the Speed. She launched her own label, Midnight Choir, before releasing her fifth long-player and third outing with producer Gus van Go. Appearing in 2023, Healing Power saw Lightfoot deliver a driving set of road trip-ready rock songs that pair pure pop craftsmanship with rootsy authenticity. In addition to her own work, Lightfoot has collaborated with a host of other artists, including Emmylou Harris, Ron Sexsmith, Grace Potter, and Gordon Lightfoot (no relation).
