Sophie and the Giants

Sophie and the Giants make electro and disco-tinted indie-pop aimed at the dancefloor and sunset drives down the M1. Also known as SATG, the group was formed at ACM Music College in Guildford in 2017 by singer Sophie Scott, initially as a vessel for her own amateur music endeavors. She soon recruited fellow students drummer Chris Hill, bassist Bailey Stapledon, and guitarist Toby Holmes, and SATG was born. It was when the band moved to Sheffield that their career started to take off. After honing their sound on the live circuit, mixing cover songs of Supertramp and Chris Isaak with their own originals, they released their first single, "Monsters", in 2018, followed by the Adolescence EP in October, which featured the tracks "Bulldog", "Space Girl" and "Waste My Air". A European tour and appearances at festivals including the Glastonbury Festival followed and in March 2019, SATG dropped new single "The Light", which was featured in the trailer for the GRID videogame as well as in an advertisement for a German mobile phone company. At the beginning of June 2019, Antonia Pooles replaced bassist Bailey Stapledon and the following year the group joined forces with German DJ Purple Disco Machine for the Italo disco-inspired song "Hypnotized", which gave them a substantial hit in Italy, where it was certified triple-platinum. A new single, "Right Now", was released in February 2021, followed by two more collaborations; one with Italian singer Michele Bravi for the song "Falene" and "In the Dark" with Purple Disco Machine.
