Silk Rhodes

Off-center soul and post-disco revivalists Silk Rhodes features vocalist Sasha Desree and producer Michael Collins. The duo is from Baltimore, Maryland. Their first recorded appearance was on Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton, a compilation released to coincide with the 2014 Stones Throw label documentary of the same title. "Face 2 Face," a plinking neo-boogie cut seemingly dusted off from a record warehouse abandoned in 1984, was perfectly placed between Charizma & Peanut Butter Wolf's "Methods" and Mayer Hawthorne's "I Wish It Would Rain." A few months later, the song was issued as the A-side to a Stones Throw 7" single backed by a sparse early-'70s-inspired ballad titled "Pains." Both sides were featured on a self-titled album released that November.
