Ambient/New Age - Released October 21, 2016 | RCA Records Label

The second full-length holiday outing from the Arlington, Texas-based, 2011 Sing-Off-winning a cappella group, A Pentatonix Christmas delivers a colorful set of Yuletide emissions with ample amounts of spirit and a truly impressive command of harmony. Acrobatic takes on "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "O Come, All Ye Faithful," and "I'll Be Home for Christmas" fit nicely alongside highlights from 2014's double platinum-selling That's Christmas to Me, but where the former only yielded one original offering, A Pentatonix Christmas unleashes two self-penned Santa jams into the world, the winking "Good to Be Bad" and the festive "The Christmas Sing-Along." Also notable is a soulful rendering of "White Christmas," which sees the quintet teaming up with a cappella, jazz fusion, and pop legends Manhattan Transfer. ~ James Christopher Monger

Pentatonix's fourth studio album and second holiday-themed release, 2014's That's Christmas to Me, showcases more of the innovative a cappella group's electronic dance music-influenced vocal sound. The album comes on the heels of the group's other 2014 release, PTX, Vol. 3, and two years after the Yuletide EP PTXmas. Here, the former NBC Sing-Off season three champions perform a bevy of Christmas classics including "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," "Silent Night," and others, as well as the newly minted title track original. ~ Matt Collar

Pentatonix's third holiday album, Christmas Is Here! became the a cappella quintet's third straight to top the Billboard holiday albums chart. Offering a combination of Christmas classics and songs like the winter-themed "Sweater Weather," originally by pop group the Neighbourhood, and "When You Believe" from The Prince of Egypt, high-profile guests include Maren Morris and Kelly Clarkson. The latter is featured on a reverent cover of Amy Grant's "Grown-Up Christmas List." On the more flamboyant side is "Here Comes Santa Claus" and album highlight "Making Christmas" from The Nightmare Before Christmas, which retains the original's sinister tone. Christmas Is Here! closes with a tempo-, time signature-, and key-shifting version of "Jingle Bells" that finds the singers accompanied by an orchestra. ~ Marcy Donelson

Released in 2013, PTX, Vol. 2 is the third EP from the Arlington, Texas-based a cappella ensemble Pentatonix, who won season three of NBC's The Sing-Off vocal competition. As the follow-up to the group's 2012 EP PTX, Vol. 1 and holiday-themed PTXmas, PTX, Vol. 2 features more of the band's a cappella versions of contemporary pop hits. Included are such covers as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold Us," Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's "I Need Your Love," and even a Daft Punk medley that combines the songs "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," "Digital Love," "One More Time," and "Get Lucky." Also included are several of the band's unique original songs, including "Natural Disaster, "Love Again," and "Run to You." ~ Matt Collar

PTXmas is the first holiday-themed release and second overall EP from the Arlington, Texas-based a cappella ensemble Pentatonix, who won season three of NBC's The Sing-Off vocal competition. Similar to the band's two other releases, 2012's PTX, Vol. 1 and PTX, Vol. 2, PTXmas features more of the band's a cappella cover songs. This time around, the focus is obviously on Christmas and holiday songs. Also, while the group is known for tackling many contemporary pop hits, here they largely stick to a handful of classic Holiday compositions. Included are the time-tested chestnuts "Angels We Have Heard on High," "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," "The Christmas Song," and "O Holy Night." Also included is the vocal band's take on Donny Hathaway's R&B holiday standard "This Christmas." ~ Matt Collar

The 2012 debut EP from the five-member vocal ensemble Pentatonix, PTX, Vol. 1 features a cappella versions of contemporary pop hits. Included are the band's takes on Nicki Minaj's "Starships," Jazmine Sullivan's "Love You Long Time," Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," and others. Also featured here are the two original songs, "The Baddest Girl" and "Show You How to Love." PTX, Vol. 1 is a great introduction to the Arlington, Texas-based group, which previously won season three of NBC's The Sing-Off vocal competition in 2011.
