Singer/songwriter Nastasia Griffin grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, daughter of a father who worked in the music industry. From her earliest childhood days she spent countless hours in recording studios and was surrounded by music early on. She relocated to Atlanta, Georgia for college and eventually began working as a songwriter for bigger artists, signing a publishing deal and working on songs for artists as well known as Usher and Major Lazer. After relocating to Los Angeles, Griffin began recording tracks under her own name, releasing the single "Here in My Skin" with Sony/ATV in 2015. The song was included in an episode of the television drama Being Mary Jane. In the years that followed, Griffin stylized her stage name as Nstasia and began work on her debut album, New Religion. Released in late 2017, New Religion offered a more dreamlike reading of Griffin's songwriting, with Frank Ocean-inspired production and more adventurous, explicit content than her mainstream beginnings. The single "Parachute" featured production work from EDM figurehead Skrillex. ~ Fred Thomas
