Njomza

Singer and songwriter Njomza ("nee-ohm-zuh") collaborated on singles with some of the biggest names in pop (Ariana Grande), rap (Mac Miller), and EDM (Skrillex) before releasing her own set of stylish pop in the form of her 2017 debut EP, sad for you. Subsequent EPs, including Vacation (2018) and the bedroom R&B-leaning LIMBO (2021), were interspersed with popular featured spots on songs like 2021's "Over & Over" by Dark Heart. Solo singles including "Clown" followed in 2022. Some of her best-known songwriting credits include the Ariana Grande hits "7 Rings" and "thank u next." Born in Germany and raised in Chicago, Njomza Vitia began competing as a singer in talent shows as a kindergartner. She later formed a band while in her early teens, leaving it at 16 to pursue music as a soloist. Around that time, in 2010, Njomza began posting videos of her covers of artists including Adele, Kid Cudi, and Mac Miller on social media. It wasn't long before she also shared performances of some of her original songs. Eventually, Miller discovered her video channel and signed her to his label Remember Records. In 2015, Njomza's co-lead single with Miller, "Creatures of the Night," was produced by Miller with contributions from Earl Sweatshirt. A year later, she was featured on Skrillex and Team EZY's song "Pretty Bye Bye," and her solo recording debut, the sad for you EP, arrived in 2017. That same year, Njomza had a minor dance-airplay hit with "Caskets," a collaboration with Party Favor featuring FKi 1st. She then signed with Sincethe80s/Motown for her second EP, Vacation, released in 2018. Njomza was also featured alongside Bipolar Sunshine on that year's DAVAULT single "Stay," another co-writing assignment. The songwriting successes continued in 2019, which saw the release of Ariana Grande's international chart-toppers "7 Rings" and "thank u, next." The year also brought Njomza's first headlining tour of North America and the woozy soul single "No One Is Spared." Another solo EP, LIMBO, appeared in mid-2021. Its guest roster included Ari Lennox, Wurld, Russ, and Metro Marrs. That year, a featured spot on Dark Heart's "Over & Over" became one of her most-streamed performances yet. She offered up solo singles including the spare "noisy" and club-friendly "Clown" in 2022.
