Manset

French rock singer Gérard Manset was born in 1945 in the wealthy Saint-Cloud commune just outside the centre of Paris. After failing his high school studies he was awarded a Concours Général, which is a prestigious academic competition open to French high school students. The award helped Manset to win a place at the famous École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The school gave him a grounding in various aspects of art and in addition to developing his skills as a musician he also became an accomplished photographer and painter.

His career as a musician began in earnest in 1968 when he released the album '45 Tours'. Since these early days he has built up a following and become a successful rock artist with more than 20 albums to his credit. Although Manset might not be held in the same revererence by French audiences as artists such as Johnny Halliday or Serge Gainsborough, he has been a consistently popular performer for the duration of his career and his 2014 album 'Un Oiseau S'est Posé' made it into the top ten of the French Mainstream Charts.
