Kossisko

Kossisko is the stage name of Kossisko Konan, an American singer-songwriter and rapper from Berkeley, California. Born on November 26, 1992, to a Jewish mother and an African father, he spent most of his teenage years in a boarding school in Ivory Coast due to disciplinary issues. Upon his return to the United States in 2010, he began performing under the name 100s, releasing his debut mixtape Ice Cold Perm in September 2012. Produced by Joe Wax, the mixtape was heavily influenced by 1990s hip-hop and helped the artist land a deal with A-Trak's Fool's Gold Records, making his official debut for the label with the 2013 single "Life of a Mack," featured in the soundtrack of the video game Grand Theft Auto V. Sex Symbols, his tentative second mixtape, was scheduled for release in 2014 but was eventually ditched in favor of the G-funk-tinged EP Ivry, his final release under the 100s moniker. After officially changing his name to Kossisko, he issued the singles "This May Be Me," "Own Me," and "Jealousy" ahead of the release of his EP Red White N Cruel in 2015. Low, his first studio full-length as Kossisko, was released in 2019 via Active Frequencies/EMPIRE, followed by the single "Uptown Top Ranking," which was included in the soundtrack of the film Native Son. Over the next few years, Kossisko made a cameo on the teen drama Euphoria, collaborated with fellow rapper G-Eazy on the non-album single "The End," and began teasing his sophomore album through the singles "Good Thing," "World of Trouble," and "Lil Red Rari." Released in 2022, World of Trouble also contained an urban reimagining of the Cyndi Lauper classic "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."
