Hornet La Frappe

Born in a suburb of Paris and of Algerian descent, rapper Mounir Ben Chettouh (December 5, 1992), aka Hornet La Frappe, began writing lyrics at the age of 13. In 2012, he signed to the label TXT Productions, which was owned by Busta Flex, a rapper from the same area of France. His first EP Réussir Ou Mounir was released in 2014 but it did not reach the French charts. La Frappe formed his own record label Diez Peufra in 2016 with some friends and began posting material on a forum for rappers and hip-hop artists. His single “Gramme 2 Peuf,” released in 2016, reached platinum sales. His first mixtape Nous-mêmes followed in 2017 and peaked at Number 5 on the French Albums Chart. A second single, “Je Pense à Toi” was also released from this album in 2017. Hornet La Frappe issued his studio debut Dans les Yeux in 2018, which had material written by Baille Broliker Production, Zeg P, and Seezy. The album went to Number 4 on the French Albums Chart. He also released several singles from this album, notably “Rolls” featuring Lacrim, which hit Number 15, and “Sheitana” which went to Number 12. In 2019, La Frappe returned with the non-album single “Bedo,” which was a popular hit on video-sharing platforms and music streaming services. He followed this with further standalone singles like “Bonnie” (2019), “La Peuf 4” (2019), and “C'est Mort” (2020). Preceded by the gold-selling single “Calumet,” his second studio album Ma Ruche came out in 2020 and entered the French Top 5—a feat surpassed by his next full-length, 2021’s Toujours Nous-mêmes, which bowed at Number 3 in France and featured cameos by Maes, Dwen, and Ninho.
